What to expect from a class:

The session starts with Qi Kung to warm up the body and get the Qi moving.  Each week focuses on slowly building upon the Tai Chi form.  The session is brought to a close with meditation and relaxation exercises to allow time for integration and assimilation.

 WHAT IS QI?

The body's vital energy which flows through the meridians or energetic pathways in the body.  When Qi is flowing well in the body we feel healthy, alive and well, balanced in both body and mind.  When it becomes blocked physical emotional and mental issues start to manifest.

As humans we tend to live a very limited movement existence:  working at a desk, washing dishes, opening cupboards, driving a car, sitting watching TV . . . our day to day range of movement is restricted.  The practice of Tai Chi and Qi Kung helps to remind us of our potential and expands our mobility.  Using slow gentle movements that are synchronised with the breath, we unwind tension, stretching and moving energy through the meridian systems, waking up and invigorating the body.

As we move and breathe together we plug into a gentle flow and experience of harmony that feels timeless and indescribable.

WHAT IS QI KUNG?

Qi Kung consists of short sequences of movement.  The simplicity of the mechanics of Qi Kung allow you to slip more easily into a place of truly cultivating your Qi (energy) and leaving the monkey mind behind. This is a tool- kit you can take anywhere where to boost self-empowerment, grounding, vitality and inner strength.

WHAT IS CONTEMPORARY TAI CHI?

The Tai Chi form is a longer flow of mindful movement. The sequence allows us to reconnect body and soul, enhances immunity, builds stamina and reduces stress to achieve positive health.
